iOS 4.2 allows Apps to register as destinations for certain file types is hot for Evernote, Dropbox etc

So this update is getting to what Android is good at. If I am in Safari or Mail, I want the option to open this attachment or file with Documents to Go, Quick Office, Good Reader.

Evernote and Dropbox will get really huge. Imagine a lot of third party apps allow sending notes and texts to these 2 cloud app and making them the defacto cloud storage and cloud note storage.

The more iOS implments these enhancements the more it moves closer to Android platform. It looks like this strategy is working out well. Close and control their OS and then slowly open it up in a control manner.

Easily send files into Evernote from other apps- iOS 4.2 allows apps to register themselves as destinations for certain file types. Evernote is now registered for PDF, TXT, WAV, MP3, HTML, and several others. This means that you’ll be able to send files into Evernote directly from other applications.

In Safari and Mail- Certain file types (PDF, TXT, HTML) now have an Open in button at the top right corner when they’re viewed. Tapping on the button will show Evernote as an option. Opening the file in Evernote will create a new note in Evernote with that file as an attachment. To send an audio file into Evernote, tap and hold on the file.

Third party apps- Developers can now enable the same functionality in their applications. There are already many applications that can send files into Evernote. Look for many more to add the Open in feature, which will allow you send files into Evernote from anywhere.

And more… No Evernote release is complete with a whole bunch of behind-the-scenes bug fixes that make using Evernote all the more enjoyable. This one’s no different. And there’s lots more to come. Stay tuned.

Cloud Based Note/Memo Software for Blackberry: DulyNoted Pro

Its not often i reviewed Blackberry application but Screaming Toaster seem to have come  up with a good application with DulyNoted Pro.

DulyNoted Pro

The mind map here explains everything about DulyNoted Pro. Bascially, if you are looking for a solution to capture your thoughts or notes anywhere and you so happen to have your blackberry with you all the time (which most of you are!) this would be a good solution for you.

Your notes will be sync with the cloud server so that you can have access to your notes from any browser.

Been a fan of Evernote and certainly hope this solution at $10 per year leaves up to it. Do give it a try and tell me what you think.

Why would you use this?

Simply, there are files we do not know where we will need to view. Such as reference PDF, word and excel documents, even photos.

The problem with uploading to a site for sharing or backing up is that you need to have the intention that there is a possibility that you will need to assess it while you are on the go or accross your home and office. You do not always know that

What you do then, is create a folder dump that you put things by category and should you need to access it, you can have assess to it whether its on your iphone, ipod touch, black berry, android phone or another desktop pc with internet assess.

The positive aspect is that for Soonr, you can span it across 2 or more pc, on your iPhone, through your mobile web browser or your web browser. All of them link to one account.

Costing

Like Dropbox,Syncplicity and Sugarsync, the BASIC PACKAGE is FREE! That will give you 2GB of online backup, used by 2 users and up to 3 projects. That is really the bare minimum.

Not so much of a big improvement except that you have unlimited projects
