Android App Inventor: How much of a game changer will this crowd sourcing phenomenon be?
filed in Ecosystem Android on Jul.13, 2010

The big news on a sleepy monday just happens to be the news that Google don’t seem to be happy that there isn’t as much applications on the Android devices compare to iOS
So they are building a easy to plug and play coding tool for mom and pop’s to build any kind of apps they want.
These the blocks into Android bytecode is built on top of the GNU Kawa framework, which provides a Scheme-based intermediate language. It’s worth noting that Kawa can also be used standalone to build entire Android applications with Scheme.
So How much of a game changer is this?
I am really not sure about this. We would have to see whether a lot of Web 2.0 companies build blocks for people to easily plug and play.
I would say as a user this will only be useful for me if I need to produce something that I want to use workflow wise for myself that I don’t want to spend a lot of effort making it into an application I want to share with others.
Still This is crowd sourcing. And we need to see whether the crowd embraced it fully.
What I would like to see is Android producing better UI application that is more functional. That is where they are lacking vs iOS
